The problem was personal.
iFlow Technology was founded by Hans Klein, a former High-Tech executive, after he had become an avocado grower in Bonsall (San Diego County).
Difficult-to-walk terrain, many PVC pipes and poly-tubes, regular plug-ups and frequent damage from coyotes, grove workers, and equipment—all that made it very hard to know that the irrigation was working as it should.
Flow meters would only measure at the main supply pipe, and couldn't tell where the problem was—and very often couldn't even detect the problem at all.
Hans needed a much better solution.
Building something better
He pulled together engineering talent to develop various versions of what has become the iFlow Aware system.
It has been installed in his own grove for a few years. Being a user, he saw what needed to be improved, and that process happened many times over.
From one grove to nearby vineyards
Then it was installed in several nearby vineyards. They loved it. It was easy to install and simply added to whatever their existing irrigation system was.
Receiving alerts right on the phone or desktop was just what they needed: immediate notification about the problem and where it was located.
A system that keeps improving
The system continues to get improved over time, and new updates are released online—without the user having to do anything. Next time they open the app, it's all there.
We don't want to make it complicated and overloaded with features. We want iFlow Aware to be super useful, valuable, and easy to use.
